The brief
Model fracture risk in a patient-specific femur under fall-impact loading.
What I did
- Calculated von Mises stress and displacement across the cortical bone, not just the peak value.
- Varied both the impact angle and how the bone was fixed, since real falls don’t all load the femur the same way.
- Gave cortical and cancellous bone different material properties, to compare how each responds.
- Checked how accurate the material properties I used were.
Result
The model placed the critical failure region at the femoral neck, consistent with clinically observed fracture patterns. Graded 100%.
