The brief
Design a living aid and produce the user guide and making instructions to go with it.
What I did
As well as the device, I wrote an easy-read guide and making instructions in two versions, following formal easy-read guidance for users with cognitive or literacy barriers. Easy-read rules call for one idea per sentence, no unexplained terms, and each step broken down into a single action.
Result
The device, plus accessible documentation that users with cognitive or literacy barriers can follow without assistance.
