The brief
Design and prototype a wearable device that detects when an infant is in a hazardous position or overheating.
What I did
The prototype combines a DHT20 temperature and humidity sensor and an FSR402 force-sensitive resistor with decision logic on an Adafruit microcontroller, housed in a textile wearable.
The main design constraints were comfort, low power use and keeping false alarms low. A monitor that raises frequent false alarms is likely to be switched off, so the detection thresholds were set with that in mind.
Result
A working textile prototype.
